VirtualEmployee.com opens new office in the Govt-approved Noida Special Economic Zone

Virtual Employee Pvt. Ltd., one of the leading outsourcing companies in India, has has attained the SEZ status and will soon be shifting to a new office in the prestigious Noida SEZ. Getting the SEZ status is a big achievement for any company because SEZ is a geographical region that has economic and other laws that are more free-market-oriented than a country’s typical or national laws. Nationwide laws may be suspended inside a special economic zone to promote economic activities and employment. The Government gives the SEZ status to companies that make substantial contribution to the country’s economy.

Being in the SEZ means having access to all the benefits that the Government lavishes on promising companies. One of these benefits is a 15-year corporate tax holiday on export profit – 100% for initial 5 years, 50% for the next 5 years. Besides this, the companies that set up their units in the SEZ are provided with built up space and developed plots. For starters, the new office will be of an absolute international standard, complete with central air-conditioning and central heating facilities as well as a host of amenities for the employees. It can enjoy support services such as post office, banks, food courts, ATMs, and fire services, all of which are provided within the SEZ complex. The office will boast state-of-the-art infrastructure, spacious workstations, comfortable restrooms, lounges, canteen facilities within the premises.

The new address of VirtualEmployee.com in the Noida SEZ will put it in the league of outsourcing giants like HCL and Tech Mahindra, thus giving it an opportunity to further enhance its reputation in the outsourcing industry. In the business for the last five years, VirtualEmployee.com has a global clientele that is spread across the US, UK, Europe, Australia and Canada. With the benefits of SEZ, the company will be able to further consolidate its client base and will eventually make more significant contribution to the country’s economy.

China Visit of VirtualEmployee.com Chairman Narinder Singh Mahil

“China may be way ahead of us in infrastructure and their business practices may be better than us”, observed the Chairman of VirtualEmployee.com, Narinder Singh Mahil, “but they are a million miles behind India as far as IT outsourcing is concerned.” He speaks from first-hand experience, since he was a part of a trade delegation to China that was organized jointly by the Indian Government and NASSCOM for its member companies from5th – 7thSeptember,2012. The delegation visited Shanghai and Nanjing as a part of an ongoing initiative by NASSCOM to increase partnership opportunities between IT companies in the two countries. Very senior dignitaries from the Indian Government and from NASSCOM led the delegation.

NASSCOM’s invite read, “As we all know, China is an emerging economic superpower that continues to grow at a robust pace even during the times when economies in the West are facing a slowdown. This has largely been on the back of a strong domestic demand, which complements the large exports industry. The domestic market is largely driven by the Government, which also influences over 150,000 state-owned enterprises with huge IT budgets. Therefore, the opportunity is very large in the domestic market in China and it is imperative to make inroads into this region through business partnerships and support from the Indian Government. Though China IT-BPO industry is largely focused on the domestic market, the Indian IT- BPO industry has a clear value proposition in domain expertise, service delivery maturity, global experience and unparalleled human capital.”

The delegation had focused meetings with the Chinese Government and its IT industry’s movers and shakers to create opportunities for higher market access for the Indian industry,as well as reduce non-tariff barriers.

In Shanghai, the Indian trade delegation met the Shanghai Software Association (SSA), had a roundtable discussion with leaders of the the Chinese Government, customers and IT companies, and was also taken to visit some of the leading Chinese IT companies. Presentations included such interesting topics such as “State of the Nation – Shared Services & Outsourcing Environment in China”. The meeting between the Chinese Government leaders and IT companies featured discussions on “Opportunities and Challenges for Indian IT- BPO industry in China & the way forward”.

As a part of the China visit, the delegation also participated in the 8th China (Nanjing) International Software Product & Information Service Trade Fair held in Nanjing. The VE model is best for French SMEs

VirtualEmployee.com’s ‘French Connection’ – SMEs in France to benefit from the VE model

The France-India Summit 2013 organized by NASSCOM on 4th April, 2013 in New Delhi, brought together the representatives of the governments of France and India to further mutual collaboration in business between the two countries. And, yes, outsourcing featured very prominently during the networking sessions and the workshops as the French government officials announced their government’s plans to promote outsourcing to India in a big way.

Attending the Summit were stalwarts like Mr Kapil Sibal, Union Minister, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and similar high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, Government of France, such as Mrs Martine Festaud, Consul of France to India, Government of France. The day-long Summit featured networking sessions as well as workshops on topics ranging from ‘Assessing growth and partnership opportunities’, ‘Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights’, ‘Cross border business’ and ‘Opportunities outside IT: BPO and Engineering Services’.

Perhaps the most significant news for the outsourcing industry is the French government’s announcement that it plans to support outsourcing and promote it in France in a big way. At the moment, 20 percent of all IT work in France is outsourced to India. The French IT market is estimated at US$ 5 billion of which work worth US$ 1 billion is presently being outsourced to India.

With the French government now openly committing itself to promoting outsourcing in lucrative and low-cost destinations like India, small and medium firms across France are in for some very good news. We are at the forefront with this collaboration with the French government. We want to help the SMEs in France who plan to outsource and because of our close association with the Government of India, we can help the SMEs in the French market.

In addition, VirtualEmployee.com’s unique business model is aimed at exactly such SMEs who wish to offshore outsource like the MNCs but are unable to do so because the economies of scale simply do not work out for them. But, with VirtualEmployee.com, every SME across France can open its own ‘offshore office’ in India and draw from the vast and abundant talent pool of India.

Along with Indian IT giants (Mahindra Satyam, HCL Technologies, Aegis-Essar, Wipro, Tata Technologies), several leading companies from France with a huge presence in India also attended this summit, namely, Capgemini, Altran, Syntec Numerique, Open Group, ST Microelectronics, Sodifrance, Helma International, Mazars, Invest in France Agency, Atos.

France has a fairly large presence in India and the French government is now keenly inviting Indian businesses to bring their operations to France as well and give a boost to their economy.

It’s obviously a two-way collaboration – the French businesses can capture the local Indian market, thanks to the Indian government’s recent impetus to FDI, while the French government is keen for Indians to invest in France to capture the economy

Client visits to VirtualEmployee.com office

Overseas Client Visit to VE's Office
“Your Reliable Outsourcing Partner”

Client visits are a frequent occurrence at the VirtualEmployee.com offices as it is an organization that encourages this practice. Such visits not only give the prospective clients an opportunity to interact directly with the management, but also enables them to personally survey the service provider’s office premises. It adds to their confidence as they come to know that VirtualEmployee.com is not just a URL in cyberspace, but a proper organization with a well-equipped, world-class office.

The employees of VirtualEmployee.com are well aware of this policy and are quite used to client visits. So, when a client visit is announced, it is business as usual in the office premises. The company deliberately tries to make client visits a routine activity so that the employees are not pretentious in case a prospective client wants to interact with them.

It was just another hectic Wednesday in the office of VirtualEmployee.com last week; everybody was engrossed in their work. The SEO team was in a huddle in one corner, the HR executives were busy with their phone calls and a team of software engineers was conducting a brainstorming session in their cubicle. Just then, two American gentlemen entered the production floor. One of the operations managers of VirtualEmployee.com was accompanying them. Walking along the aisle between cubicles, he was showing them around and answering their queries. While most of the answers of the operations managers were brief, at times he took time to explain certain concepts. The duo, however, listened to every briefing very attentively. Occasionally, there was laughter; maybe on an interesting business anecdote shared by the operations manager.

While all this was going on within the premises of the production floor, there was not even a flicker of curiosity in the employees; everybody went about their business as usual. This calmness of the office environment made the visitors comfortable and they expressed the desire to speak to somebody from the software development team. So, one of the Americans walked up to the software team and introduced himself. The team lead came forward to greet him and they chatted for a while. After that the operations manager showed the foreign men the way to the meeting room.

Such client visits happen regularly at VirtualEmployee.com and the employees take it as a routine activity. However, the overall impact on these visits is very positive, both on VirtualEmployee.com as well as its prospective clients. For the company, it is an opportunity to showcase its infrastructure and world-class office premises; the prospective clients on their part get to know the management, staff and the capabilities of the company. Such client interactions result into more stable strategic ties.

German SME outsourcing to grow in coming years

VirtualEmployee.com MD Shaunvir Mahil visits Germany from 13-14 June, 2013

VirtualEmployee.com’s MD Shaunvir Mahil visits Germany
VE MD Shaunvir Mahil interacted with top German dignitaries during his visit to Cologne on 13-14 June, 2013

VirtualEmployee.com MD Shaunvir Mahil visited Cologne, Germany from June 13-14, 2013, where he interacted with the ambassadors of the two nations at the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and also participated in the 11th Indo-German ICT Conference organised by BitKom-Nasscom.

The high-profile event saw a host of top dignitaries from both the countries in strong attendance, the theme of which was ‘a shared economy’. Among them were the German ambassador to India (Michael Steiner, who has been former German ambassador to Italy, United Nations and the Czech Republic), the Indian ambassador to Germany (Ms HE Shrimati Sujatha Singh, former High Commissioner of Australia), the Lord Mayor of Cologne (Jurgen Roters), Co-CEO of Deutsche Bank (Anshu Jain) and Vice President of BITKOM (Heinz Paul Bonn).

“It was a pleasure to meet these top dignitaries and discuss and hear their views on globalization, outsourcing and working towards a ‘shared economy’ between India and Germany. I support their views, namely that it would be mutually .
beneficial if the two countries have greater cooperation in one of their respective strengths – Germany in Engineering and India in Software Development. And this is why offshoring software development to India should not be seen as the nemesis it is often portrayed to be, but rather just one side of the trade coin,” said VirtualEmployee.com MD Shaunvir Mahil, speaking about his recent trip to Germany as a part of the Nasscom-led Indian delegation.

German SMEs, unlike their counterparts across the US or UK, have a lot of reservations about outsourcing, and cultural conditioning is one of the strongest influencing factors. However, Anshu Jain, Co-CEO of Deutsche Bank made an interesting observation about how demographics would play a greater role in altering these perceptions. Germany, on an average, had a fairly ageing population while India’s largest chunk – the working age-group – comprised of a young population. It would be only a matter of time that the German SMEs would have to seek the benefits of outsourcing to a low cost destination like India.

“Despite the current trends, I believe the German SME outsourcing sector will grow significantly in the coming years. At the Bitkom ICT conference, I shared this view with Dr Katharine Grimme (Principal Consultant, Outsourcing & BPO, Pierre Audoin Consultants) and she disagreed with me saying that German SMEs are governed by strong cultural influences, and like to keep their work local,” added Mr Mahil.

The world, however, is shrinking by the day. Instead of just MNCs, in the future many SMEs will increasingly be able to compete on a global platform rather than just remain confined locally. But a global market place will result in greater levels of competition and so global solutions will need to be sought, and one of those solutions will be offshoring.

VE Chairman meets the UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav

On September 7, 2013 the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav was in Noida to inaugurate the new headquarters of NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies) here. On this occasion, the Chairman of Virtual Employee Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Narinder Singh Mahil met the Chief Minister (equivalent to the Governor of a state in the US). This meeting with the Chief Minister attains all the more significance for us in view of the fact that Noida already enjoys the reputation of being an established corporate hub and we are also based in this National Capital Region (NCR). Another reason for us to celebrate this momentous meeting is that Mr. Yadav is giving ample importance to NASSCOM of which we are members.

At present, Yadav enjoys the distinction of being the youngest politician to hold the prestigious and powerful office of the Chief Minister of an Indian state. He is just 40 years of age and is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, one of the largest states of India. Incidentally, Uttar Pradesh has produced the maximum number of Prime Ministers for India. Being the leader of such a politically enlightened populace speaks volumes about Yadav’s capabilities as a politician and a leader of the masses. This young and dynamic leader has studied environmental engineering in Australia before taking a plunge into politics. He wants to change the socio economic landscape of the state by promoting IT education and IT enabled services.

After the inauguration ceremony, Yadav addressed the gathering of distinguished guests in a brief speech. In the speech he reiterated is government’s commitment to make Uttar Pradesh the most investment-friendly destination of India. He stressed upon helping the upcoming IT players to emerge as big conglomerates so that new employment opportunities can be created in the state. By working in tandem with this vision of the Chief Minister, companies like Virtual Employee Pvt. Ltd. can achieve new milestones in terms of growth.

VE Creates A Buzz At The IITC 2014, Liverpool, UK

Our Chairman, Narinder Singh Mahil (who is currently touring the UK) attended the UKTI India International Trade Conference held at the IFB Hub in Liverpool, UK on July 10, 2014. The Theme was ‘Cities, Enterprise and Urban Business’. He was accompanied by our Senior Client Account Manager in our Birmingham, UK Office, Sandra Pearce.

India is seen as a challenging but nevertheless extremely lucrative market by western companies besides also being hailed as the world’s most favoured outsourcing destination. However, for scores of SMEs in the UK or the US, starting a business in India or even going there to attend the hundreds of trade conferences and events that get regularly organized is a daunting task.

The aim of events such as the UKTI IITC was to educate SMEs about the opportunities as well as the challenges that were present in India – in short, do a bit of ‘handholding’ for SMEs who are eager to tap business opportunities in India but didn’t know how to go about it.

The IITF was a good opportunity for Virtual Employee Pvt. Ltd. to talk to important business leaders who were present at the event and educate them its unique business model that is primarily aimed at empowering the SME segment. With us, an SME can easily open an offshore office in India, just like the flush-with-cash MNCs.s

The UK Minister for International Trade and Investment, Lord Livingston, addressed more than 100 companies at the UKTI India International Trade Conference.

“India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. While the UK and India are major trading partners, there remains huge opportunity to increase exports and investment and I hope events such as this will assist in achieving this,” he said.

One of the highlights of the IITC 2014 was the opening of a British Business Centre in Bangalore via a Live video link and the UK participants threw questions to Bangalore in India.

The day-long itinerary consisted of Breakout Sessions for the delegates as well as one-to-one meetings between heads and key decision makers of a host of leading organizations from India and the UK. The topics for the Breakout Sessions included ‘Market

opportunities and barriers’, ‘Market Entry Strategies’, ‘Location location, location – Where in India?’, ‘Financial and banking – managing money’.

VE opted for two Breakout sessions: ‘Location, location location, – Where in India’ and ‘Financial and banking – managing money’.

The one-on-one sessions were conducted between VE and Qari Asim, MBE, Senior Associate with DLA Piper and with Steve Toogood, the Director of UK IBC.
